Foolproof.

The egoist in me likes to think that some of you dear readers have been wondering where I was these past couple weeks months. Perhaps you thought I'd thrown in the towel. Got lost in the wild world of wedding planning. Went on a fantastic vacation. Or, (horror) stopped cooking. Or perhaps, you didn't even notice (bye-bye ego!). Either way, I'm happy to report that while some of these are true (went on a much needed, very fantastic vacation), I did not throw in the towel. Nor did I stop cooking! Though I will say, I started sharing more of the cooking responsibilities with my mister-to-be. He has very admirably risen to the task.

Women Investing In Women (and, of course, Food!)
-
As some of you know, mor.sl was founded with social responsibility in mind. Thanks to a tradition in my family, whereby a portion of every first investment or paycheck (and each thereafter) is contributed to charity, we decided to invest a percentage of our founders' money towards a cause we believed in.

Dinner for Two: Hungry Globetrotter
-
I'll be honest. In general, I'm not a huge fan of the concept of dinner kits. To me, it feels infantilizing and somehow condescending if my carrots are individually packaged and prechopped.

Salads Don't Have to Be Boring!
-
We picked up this habit from the mister-to-be's side of the family: every night, without fail, they have a salad with their dinner. We've always tried to do the same, but we didn't always follow-through, until a beautiful salad bowl found its way into the kitchen.

Get Thee an Immersion Blender

This was a tough week. The mister-to-be suddenly left town on Tuesday to attend to family business on the left coast, leaving me to celebrate our five year anniversary all by lonesome.

A Night At Our Very Own Speakeasy
-
I've started an underground speakeasy. Okay, not actually. But I kind of want to. I've been fascinated by speakeasies for a few years now - ever since they started popping up. Some may say I'm a little obsessed.

Paneer Masala (Vegetarian Indian Curry Dish)
-
Granted, the recipe for this paneer came from my sister. But I couldn't help feeling like my mother as I made it. I was wearing slippers, as she always does in the kitchen. I was stirring furiously to brown my onions, as she does.

5 Things You Should Make From Scratch
-
Most of the bloggers that I've come to adore make everything from scratch. While I'd love to follow in their footsteps, I'm just not there yet. I still use canned beans instead of cooking my own (in case you're wondering why that matters, it's because the canned ones have salt, preservatives and BPAs.

Purpleberry Smoothie
-
I toyed with the idea of doing a 3-day juice cleanse. It sounded like a nice thing to do: stuff yourself with fruits and veggies and nothing else for 3 days, drop some water weight and remove toxins from your body.

Calling All Casseroles
-
Instead of seasonally appropriate visions of baked goods dancing in my head, I am starting to contemplate spending my holidays baking casseroles. With a baby plotting his entry at the beginning of the year, I plan to spend the holidays whipping up lots of frozen meals to have on hand for the first weeks of mayhem.

Great minds think alike. When I sat down to draft this post a week ago, I entitled it "A-Not-So-Traditional-Thanksgiving-Feast." Of course, in my post-Thanksgiving coma, I didn't actually get a chance to finish my post.
